Socks that lead to better circumstances in Pakistan? Yes, we can!

Tilburg -         Dutch 22 joined forces with Ayesha Spinning Mills from Pakistan. It’s an unique collaboration, in which focus is on quality labeled socks for the big retail, with a background story that stands out from the crowd.

Ayesha is an eco-circular yarn-producer, located in Sheikupura in north-east Pakistan. Pakistan is globally known as a country that one does not visit without a concrete goal, since attacks are occurring frequently.

Ayesha, never the less, is an employer with a mission. The 8100 employees of the factory are provided with secure housing, subsidized meals and constant care for their entire families. Besides these ways to fight against poverty and unemployment, Ayesha also sticks up for woman emancipation. This is since woman are being employed as well, and for similar wages as men. 

Besides the care for its employees, Ayesha also supports schools in the region by ways of subsidizing school materials like books and uniforms, organizing health projects and investing in a proper infrastructure in and around the area. 

Besides this major social facet, Dutch 22 based its willingness to collaborate mainly on the important environmental aspect. The fabrics of the socks consist of recyclable materials for 95%. Due to a great scarcity in materials, countries like Pakistan are frontrunners in the art of re-utilization. This experience, in combination with a modern management based on Western principles make sure a lack of materials is permanently avoided in the production process of the socks. Also, the steam and electricity are produced in world's cheapest and eco-friendly way.

In a (totally) vertically integrated production process that happens under one roof, everything can be checked and verified from the very beginning until the end. Because of the addition of Dutch 22 and its designers, the entire circle from the production until the creation is round and sound. The unnecessary, intermediary production chains are eliminated which results in an honest, eco-circular socks line. 

With this collaboration, Dutch 22 sets course for its own eco-label on the European market within an Open Source environment. Socks with amazing quality are being produced for the leaders in retail in a transparent and humane way that is unique in mass production until now. The first orders of frontrunners are already in.
